FAMILY/COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN SUPPORT OF PA/PE
SUCCESS STORY

Our School Health Team planned and implemented a "Fun Day" for our community in early March. The team hired groomers to prepare cross country ski trails, areas to sled, and an area for a dogsled team to give rides to children.

Approximately 200 people (in our small community) showed up to sled, ski, snowshoe, have sled dog rides, etc. We held a cardboard sled contest with stipulations of only cardboard and duct tape as the materials to be used.

With approximately 40 entries, winners were chosen in various categories. It was a tremendous success and people are eager for a repeat venture in 2008 if funding permits.
